Information

Women throughout history have often been under-represented, when they have not been simply erased altogether. Follow Gayle, your Invisible Cities guide to learn about powerful women of Edinburgh, from Half-Hangit Maggie in the Grassmarket, to the witches burnt on the castle esplanade, and the women recognised for their work representing the city. Starting at the EICC and ending halfway down the Royal Mile, you will also learn about events and campaigns that support vulnerable women.

This tour is hosted by Invisible Cities, a social enterprise that trains individuals who have experienced homelessness in the city to become tour guides. These award-winning tours blend history, social insights, and personal stories, offering a fresh perspective on the city.

Places are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens in the Pensions UK events app on 24 February.

Start point and joining instructions will be emailed to participants the day before the session.
